Greetings,

Throughout this year, we have been recording new songs using an old 8-track tape recorder, embracing a more archaic feel. Our intention is to create a more minimalistic and spontaneous album, continuing the Airut-saga approach.

Another year rolls by faster than anticipated. A lot has happened for the band and we have been working slowly but steadily towards our next release.

One of the biggest and time-consuming events has been moving our headquarters/studio to a new location. It took a long while to find a suitable space for our needs but we finally managed to get a perfect place, which also hopefully speeds things up in the future.

Along the year we also acquired some interesting instruments and equipment, which will leave their mark on the coming sonic landscapes. Especially the vintage analog reverb and delay units have stolen our hearts. Particularly the legendary bigger than piano-sized plate reverb Emt 140 and the “mother of all spring reverbs” Akg bx20 really shine.

The song selection for the next release has been more or less the same during last few last years – but we have reworked some things and now we are content with the material. Our goal is to be ready with the music in 2019. A lot of the art work needs to done so no proper schedule for the actual release can be given at the moment.

Only few rehearsals before hitting the balve gig…

Still some things to be done on our checklist but some sort of musical shape is emerging finally.

There will be no pyrotechnics, no bells and whistles — just poorly played Tenhi songs for your amusement!

Hope to see as many of you dear fans there as possible. This might be the only live event for some time now. And you know when we talk about “some time” it might mean a BIG while.

New album

We have built us a great location for recording and the preliminary material done there shows real potential. The effort was to make a longer term base for our creative work. Basic schema for the coming album is being unfolded and we have some ten new songs hatching up. Currently we are laying down basic tracks for the songs.

Finnish Femma nomination

We are happy to announce that Tenhi is nominated for a Finnish Femma award in “folk” category. The Femma music awards is an alternative event for more commercial and mainstream Emma awards. The event is held tomorrow in Club Virgin Oil Helsinki.

The long-awaited new Tenhi album “Saivo” is due out on November 25 and can now be pre-ordered in three different versions:

In tandem with “Saivo”, November 25 will also see the release of an opulent wooden box including Tenhi’s collected works on vinyl. The 33x33x7 cm sized box is limited to 500 copies only. It is made of heavy birch wood and the top comes ornated with a branded Tenhi logo and “The Collected works”. Apart from all Tenhi releases in their vinyl version (see below) the box also features a 160(!)-page and approx. 21×15 cm sized book including selected full-color and black/white graphics of all Tenhi album artworks as well as all lyrics and liner notes. Also included are posters of all Tenhi cover artworks and a numbered and handsigned authentication certificate.

Sorry for the sparse updates about ‘Saivo’. We hoped to get the album out this summer and didn’t want to disappoint you before all hope was gone. Despite the hopefully final delays, the album is well underway and the final parts are being recorded within couple of weeks, namely choirs and cello parts. We plan to finish our works on the album by the end of August eventually. ‘Saivo’ has taken its time and we didn’t want to rush it. Almost every of the songs has gone through a huge variety of alternative arrangements until we felt that we had achieved best result.

Another excellent news is that Prophecy Prophecy productions will rerelease all our previous full-length albums: ‘Kauan’, ‘Väre’, ‘Airut:aamujen’ and ‘Maaäet’ with special and significantly enhanced booklets and artwork. Stay tuned for more information about these re-issues!

We have just finished the bass recording sessions for Saivo and things look great! It seems that we are heading for a slow, deep and dark waters…

Hopefully we will put some clips online later on — this might be tomorrow or few years from now.

Thanks for everyone who showed up. It was a real pleasure to play for you. Unfortunately the bar closed rather early so there wasn’t any time to hang around after the show. We are surely keen on playing soon again in Helsinki but for now we concentrate on the new album.

Night of Folk Aesthetic
We are really happy to announce thrilling news for all who have waited for our live performance here in Finland. We will play our first show in Helsinki at club Gloria 11.10.2008. Moreover we are extremely proud to bring DORNENREICH and SIEBEN first time to Finland to play with us at ‘Night of Folk Aesthetic’. We are also looking for fourth band as opening act so there is more to it still. TENHI and DORNENREICH will play special acoustic based shows so this is something surely not to be missed. More detailed news to follow.

New album SAIVO
We are finished upgrading our studio and we will continue the recording after celebrating the midsummer’s eve.

Wall-flags
I am sorry to announce that the wall-flags were sold out after couple of days after the news was released. I will however make second edition of them as so many fans have been asking for them. These will not be sold on pre-sale so please don’t ask for them before I announce that they are ready after couple of months.

Saivo

The new songs for the coming album ‘Saivo’ are evolving nicely. We however stand now in a rather unorthodox situation as we never have had so much new material waiting to be recorded.

Ilkka Salminen is no longer in Tenhi

Ilkka Salminen has now officially left the band. We decided to announce this as there has been some speculation around the matter.

This isn’t a dramatic change in the band at all but rather awaited decision. His contribution has decreased along the years and his personal interests lie elsewhere, while for us the band has become even more crucial part of our lives.
Despite this he will still be around as a friend for sure…

So thanks for the past years –rock on!

Wall-flags etc.
We have made limited edition of wall-flags from three ‘Folk Aesthetic’ graphics (10 copies from each, with signatures). We will put them on Utustudio online shop for sale as well as TENHI shirts/sweatshirts later this spring.

Here is one video from our small tour in Germany. It is a live acoustic guitar version of ‘luopumisen laulu’ from airut:aamujen. Thanks Hilmar for shooting it.
We also did new lay-out for out site including the ‘folk aesthetic’ graphics. Hope you will like it. More news about the new album entitled ‘Saivo’ and new utustudio merchandize (wall-flags etc.) in the first weeks in 2008.

So the small tour is over. Thanks for everyone who showed up for the shows. We were extremely happy to see so much fans and people interested in our music. We also would like to thank Neun Welten for taking good care of us and being great band to tour with.

Only one conclusion can be made after these shows and the feedback we got… we certainly will do loads of more shows in the future. We hadn’t tried this acoustic line-up before but it really worked great.

We will upload some photos of the events soon. Fans are free to send us some photos so we can share the atmosphere of the shows to others as well. Here are some pre-taste of the Zwischenwelten festival shooted by Senad Palic.
